Form: Deciduous tree, up to 150 feet. Origins: Native Identifying Features: Leaves long petioled and star-shaped with 5 or 7 long-pointed, finely sawtoothed lobes. Leaves also have 5 main veins from the base. Bark is gray with narrow scaly ridges. Trivial Facts: The Sweetgum received its name because the cut bark releases a sweet, fragrant liquid used in some perfumes. |
