COMMENT The proximal of 1.6 kb of the 5'-flanking region of SpMTA
metallothionein (MT) gene together with the 1.12 kb first intron
are sufficient for its correct cell-type specific expression in
transgenic embryos. The heavy-methal ion-dependent activity of
promoter is sustained through the cooperative interaction of
a series MRE sites. The regulatory elements in intron enhance as
well as restrict expression of the single set of embryonic cell
lineages.
