Coordinated cardiac contraction appears during stage 10 - 11 at the right margin of the heart. Prior to this time, individual cells contract asynchronously. The contraction pattern of cariac myocytes is coincident with the expression of the calcium pump, SERCA2. We are continuing our efforts to detect the firsty expression of ryanodine receptor prior to embryonic day four.
