Summary

• Mutant strain fails to agglutinate with mt+ cells.
• RNA analysis indicates the mutant strain lacks a 4.4 kB
  mRNA normally expressed in vegetative cells and gametes of both mating types.
• Sequence analysis suggests that the defective gene displays a stong homology to a H+ -ATPase genes.
